Some products tell the story of where they come from. Of the land, the people who work it and a way of understanding cuisine that begins long before reaching the table. The Huevo de Toro tomato from the Guadalhorce Valley is one of them.
Grown outdoors and following its natural season, behind every tomato are farmers, families and a tradition deeply rooted in Málaga’s countryside. A product that represents our land and returns every summer at its very best. That is why, once again, El Pimpi is taking part in the Huevo de Toro Tomato Gastronomic Route, held from 31 July to 31 August in restaurants across the province of Málaga.
Our Dish for the Route
During these days, you can discover our special creation for the Route: preserved Huevo de Toro tomato with roasted leek cream, maruca roe, basil and fried almonds. A dish where the tomato takes centre stage. Our aim is to respect its true essence, pairing it with flavours that also speak of our cuisine and our land.
From the Fields to Our Table
For us, talking about Málaga’s gastronomy also means talking about the people who make it possible for the products of our land to reach our kitchen every day. The Huevo de Toro tomato represents precisely that connection: between the fields and the table, between the product and the people who grow it, between our roots and the way we continue to share them.
Its flavour, texture and character have made it one of the great treasures of the Guadalhorce Valley. But its true value also lies in everything behind it: respect for seasonality, the dedication of our farmers and the preservation of a product that forms part of our gastronomic heritage.
A Route to Taste Málaga
Throughout August, the Gastronomic Route brings together restaurants from across the province with one shared purpose: to put the Huevo de Toro tomato at the heart of the table.
At El Pimpi, we are proud to be part of this initiative once again because we believe that celebrating our cuisine also means supporting local produce, respecting its origins and recognising the people who keep our agricultural traditions alive. An opportunity to enjoy one of the great flavours of a Málaga summer while remembering something that has always been part of the way we understand gastronomy: to understand who we are, sometimes all we need to do is look back to our land.
